Lady of Kytherea’s Tidepool Ring

Handcrafted sterling silver ring set with a 7×5 mm morganite, 7×5 mm  aquamarine, and 5.5mm emerald, 4x2mm London blue topaz, 2x2.5mm azurite. Size 7.

Named for Venus, the Lady of Kythera, this one-of-a-kind ring evokes a hidden tidepool on her sacred island. I first hand sculpted the ring in jeweller’s wax, carving branching coral-like forms to hold many coloured gemstones, like a miniature underwater garden. The three stones of the beryl family, morganite, aquamarine and emerald form the larger luminous features of the pool. London blue topaz and azurite appear like small bright sea creatures moving among the silver coral branches.

Morganite, aquamarine and emerald are varieties of beryl, a gemstone named in Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy among those belonging to Venus, while emerald itself is one of her most ancient and enduring stones in lapidary tradition. All gemstones are natural and hand selected.
